Only a couple of hours of labor and almost delivered by the nurse. James came fast into this world at 11:58 am. Mom did have an epidural, but still felt the full pain on the right side. James didn't like for Mom to be on the right side (even through most of the pregnancy), so the medicine was not able to move there. Why did he not like the right side? We had no clue why until he came and saw that his umbilical cord was wrapped around his neck. The nurse explain that when I laid on my right side the cord would become pinched. But, James Embry Hickman is a healthy boy. He has long skinny legs and feet, blue eyes, and likes to squeak. Here are pictures of his first week.

James and Ayda exchanged their first gift. 

Ayda was very excited about her Barbie doll.

James was equally excited about his rattle ball.

Ayda helped Mommy eat dinner.

Gram and Papaw came to see James.

 He is already showing some personality. 

His foot always finds a way out of the swaddle.

James' Second Day: 

Ayda and James had a sibling party. 

Ayda received a big sister certificate, balloon, cake, and ice cream

Stealing Mommy's bed

James received his first War Eagle from Ryan Hill just minutes after he arrived. 

Then he watched his first Auburn game on his second day of life!

James' Third Day:

Ready to go home!

Ayda is trying to share her Daddy.

Jami, Cam, Mamaw, Sara Kate, and Maggie came to visit

Sibling love

James' Third Day

James three days old and Ayda at six days old. They both like to hold up their cheeks.

Jame's Fourth Day:

Ayda requested to hold baby brother when she got home from school.

He was excited.

James doesn't like to lay down to sleep. 

He loves his bouncer.

James' Fifth Day:

Loves to be swaddled.

Went to the doctor to be checked and treated for Jaundice. 

He gained weight since leaving the hospital. 

From 6 lb 8.2 oz to 6 lbs 9.1 oz

James' Sixth Day:

Went back to the Doctor to check the jaundice.

He gained from 6 lbs 8.2 oz to 6 lbs to 10.8 oz

His jaundice is on its way out!

Dr. Ayda gave James a check-up.

James' Seventh Day:

This is our new normal.

Its amazing when they do something

 and you finally understand what they were doing in the womb.
